Title | : | Citizens' Percieved Implications Of Nigeria's Democracy |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Fasunwon Adebayo Folorunso |
ABSTRACT: Nigeria's embrace of democracy after more than twenty five years of military governance received both local and international accolades in 1999. Democracy was thought to be a vital tool towards liberalization and development. While employing the Political Economy Approach, the study investigated the perceived outcomes of democracy on the socio-political lives of Nigerians. A cross sectional survey was carried out in the six geopolitical zones of the country, and was analysed using the Pearson correlation coeeficient. The study observed that there was a significant relationship between the nature and practice of democracy in Nigeria and the citizens' commitment to nation- building and development. Thus, if Nigeria is to achieve the goal of economic development, viability and democratic consolidation; there is a need to make democracy truly participative, free and fair.

Title | : | The Challenges Of Teaching English Lanaguage In Extra-Mural Classes In Owerri Municipal Council, IMO State, Nigeria |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Dan Chima Amadi || Amadi Appolonia Ifeyinwa |
ABSTRACT: The challenges of teaching English language in extra mural classes in Owerri Municipal Council of Imo State and indeed all parts of Nigeria are enormous. These challenges stem from the students inability to properly separate the two language sets, their inability to manage the main structure of English and overcome their seemingly incurable mistakes. Inability to express themselves fluently in English and the appointment of inadequately trained teachers are some of the challenges. This paper makes suggestions on how to improve on the situation.

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Soumya.K.M |
ABSTRACT: The paper addresses the scope of organic farming as an effective way to promote sustainable agriculture in India. The promotion of sustainable agriculture is a need of present day world to overcome the challenges arising from chemical fertiliser based farming. Agriculture is backbone of Indian economy with more than half of the population still depend on this sector for their livelihood. At the same time contribution of agriculture in India's GDP is less than other sectors in the Economy. This is mainly because of unsustainable farm practices. It is essential to find ways to overcome socio economic and environmental problems arising from unsustainable farm practices.

Title | : | Urkraft, "Social Conformity" and "Site" as Contrastive Concepts that Construct a Thematic Strategy in Arun Joshi's the Strange Case of Billy Biswas |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. T.K. Pius |
ABSTRACT: The paper attempts to explicate the concepts of "urkraft", "Social Conformity" and "Site" as they get unfolded in the course of the narrative in Arun Joshy's the Strange Case of Billy Biswas and tries to see these as thematic link that knits the various narrative events. While the term "urkraft" is essentially a subjective force within the individual, "social conformity" is the force that breeds docile denizens for society. Arun Joshi explicates how their conflicting interventions within individuals transform them as "sites" of conflict where these extra-subjective forces fight to resolve differences leaving the individuals mere ineffectual victims.

Title | : | New Facts about Alexander the Great |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Kashinath Mishra |
ABSTRACT: The present creation was started by mankind in the beginning of the Sambat Era, when he began the creation of letters and words. This observation is particularly relevant to what we call Indo-Aryan languages. It resulted after a big bang when Alexander collided head on with Siba. The two suns (most illustrious personalities) had come close to each other The defeat of Alexander was a big cipher for the Greeks. It was from this cipher that the names of different planets, animals, plants, days, months etc. emerged though they existed from time immemorial.

Title | : | Alfadil Saeed: 50 Years of Theatrical Activity (1955 -2005) |
Country | : | Sudan |
Authors | : | Dr. Muawia Mohamed Dafalla |
ABSTRACT: This paper brings into light one of the founders of Sudanese drama who began his theatrical experience so early when he was twenty years old and carried on his mission to his death at the age of seventy. Alfadil Saeed's career as a comedian and originator of this art in Sudan is sometimes overlooked by the graduates of drama institutes because they fell victims to the cliché that Saeed's characters are stock and stereotyped and they do not deserve attention or study. This snobbish attitude is the result of lack of documentation for Sudanese drama since there are no serious attempts or patience to write about the history of Sudanese drama.
