Title | : | Rape or Die": War as Initiation Rite in Chris Abani's Song for Night |

Abstract: This paper discusses disrupted childhood as a result of war with reference to Chris Abani's novel, Song for Nigh. The paper analyses how a child's entry into war acts as his form of initiation rite and development into adulthood, and the way this form of initiation leaves him in a state in between childhood and adulthood, as well as in between life and death. The main argument of the paper is that Abani's portrayal of his protagonist is a way of constructing war as a wrongful rite of passage which can only take one's childhood without making him an adult. Thus, the reason why Abani's protagonist, My Luck is denied entry into his society after his experience as a child soldier is because he went through a form of initiation which leaves him in a liminal state..

Abstract: Corruption has been the bane of Nigeria‟s public service since after the nation‟s independence in 1960. This became worse with the incursion of the military into Nigeria‟s politics, especially with the Public service purge under the Generals Murtala/Obasanjo regime in 1975. This exercise went against the civil service principle of permanence, as civil servants were arbitrarily dismissed from service. This changed the mentality of those that survived the purge for the worse, making them resort to bribery and corruption in order to save for the rainy day. Over time, corruption became entrenched and intractable in Nigeria‟s public service. Successive governments- both military and civilian, deployed several measures and strategies in the past to tackle this monster, to no avail. This paper..........

Abstract: World over, cervical cancer is a non-communicable disease of big public health concern. It is ranked number two after breast cancer in order of frequency of cancers affecting women in the world and the leading cause of cancer mortality in low and middle income countries. This burden is even more in developing countries like Kenya due to low education levels, low cervical cancer knowledge, less availability and accessibility of screening services among other reasons. The study sought to assess general awareness of cervical cancer,it'sprevention, knowledge on availability of screening services andcorrelate this awareness with education levels and why there is low uptake of screening services. The result revealed that majority of the respondents at 62.5% had heard of cervical cancer while 37.5% had never heard of cervical cancer with 4.4% reporting to have never heard of the word cancer.Among the respondents 28% had been screened while 72% had not been screened for cervical cancer. This calls for an intensive cervical cancer awareness...

Abstract: The popularity of shisha and its use among university students is on a steady rise. Given that it is marketed as a safe and trendy, and because little preventive efforts have been put in place towards its demand reduction and supply suppression, many people may continue with its use unaware of its health consequences. Investigating the level of awareness of the health consequences of shisha and its influence on attitudes and smoking behavior is an important starting point in designing prevention efforts. This study employed theex-post-factocorrelational research design. Purposive and simplerandom sampling of 150 university students was done. A questionnaire consisting of.......

Behind this practice, there are some basic necessary propositions which are based on so some theoretical ground. Therefore, in this piece of paper it has been tried to focus on the theories which is related to the concept of outsourcing. Moreover, an attempt has been made to throw some light on the motives behind the outsourcing practices of the business organisations..
