Abstract: Article 1 of Law No. 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage defines that marriage as "a physical and mental bond between a man and a woman as husband and wife with the aim of forming a happy and eternal family (household) based on belief in the Almighty God." Based on the explanation of the Marriage Law, the purpose of a marriage is to form a happy, harmonious and not divorced family, so that before the two get married there are differences in background and opinions that must be united between the partners. In addition to the provisions mentioned above, there is one source of national marriage law that is specific in nature that regulates marital permits and divorce of civil servants, namely Government Regulation No. 10 of 1983 concerning Marriage Permit and Divorce of Civil Servants in conjunction with Government Regulation Number 45 of 1990 concerning Marriage Permit and Divorce........

Abstract: The paper argues that indigenous languages of Nepal are in danger of replacement by Nepali language, the language of greater economic power, education, and social prestige, leading to its possible death. Both to promote Nepal's cultural and linguistic diversity and improve education for children from indigenous language communities, the Nepal government has proposed the implementation of multilingual education program as part of the "Education for All" program. Based on Fishman's model for language revitalization, an analysis of the possibility of the survival of indigenous languages, and a critique of the multilingual education program with respect to the role they may play..........

Abstract: Political leaders, in communicating their intentions to the citizenry, use hedges to assert their integrity, honesty, commitment and transparency. Several studies in discourse analysis, sociolinguistics and pragmatics have investigated the relevance of various linguistic elements to political discourses. However, not much of the pragmatic studies have employed hedging from the perspective of cooperative principles in analysing Nigerian political discourse for the purpose of asserting the positive self-images of the political leaders. Thus, this study examined hedges and the hedged cooperative principles using Grice's Cooperative Principle as its theoretical framework. The study utilised the qualitative research design while purposive sampling technique was used to.... ..

Abstract: In every human society, judgments about whether an utterance counts as impolite may be informed by stereotypical beliefs about gender-appropriate behaviour. Regrettably, in the African context, these gender stereotypes have not only dictated women's roles in the society, but have profoundly impacted language use in marital context, which is the focus of this study. This paper explored politeness phenomena in Barclay Ayakoroma'sDance on His Grave. This was prompted by the need to investigate how language was used by the women folk in the play, to defy social stereotypes and enforce the recognition of their relevance. The study foregrounded the communicative functions of impoliteness in marital discourse. Specifically, it revealed both the linguistic and non-linguistic.......

Abstract: Women‟s role in the community and at home have been changing rapidly. Traditionally, men and women had well-defined roles without much overlapping or trespassing- mostly women were confined to home – their primary was "mother‟ and "care-taker‟. But, women‟s rights, education, and gender equality has changed the scenario. Pursuance of quality life, better living standard, cost of living has compelled women to become economic contributors of the home. However, not much significant changes have been observed in gender roles. The question is whether women are satisfied about their role as mother or care-taker. The objective of the study is to explore the difference in the perceived.....
