Abstract: This paper is a result of a case study on a family who makes social-cultural adaptation to occupation and education in Indonesia (Manado) and Australia (Adelaide). The analysis is supported by theory of adaptation (socially and culturally). The research-data collection in this specific case study on the family uses a qualitative research method emphasizing on free and in-depth interview techniques and openly conducted as casual interviews. The result of this research shows that this family has managed to make adaptation to occupation and education in Indonesia and Australia. Their oldest child has managed to make adaptation to education at school in Australia with the assumption that grade 7 to grade 9 is equal to pre-secondary school. However, the child at the end fails to make...................

Abstract: Poverty is a "poor" livelihood outcome. It is based on a fragile or unbalanced set of livelihood assets. Poor are unable to sustain shocks, changes or trends. The policies do not support the poor. Sustainable Livelihood approach to poverty is a holistic one which takes into account the innumerable factors that go into the making of poverty and to identify those issues where an intervention could be crucially important for effective poverty reduction at the local or policy level. The plantations are usually situated in remote and uninhabited areas. The plantation workers are therefore mostlymigrants. These labourers are often provided with housing on the estates, along withfacilities for shops, services and communal facilities for recreation and culture. It is unfortunate that almost all the companies aim to minimize labour costs. By enhancing their capabilities, equity considerations....................

Abstract: Child abuse is a phenomenon that has existed as long as families have existed. Studies of the earliest human settlement cultures and civilizations reveal evidence of child sacrifice and discriminatory practices resulting in neglect, abuse and even death of infants and children as also of initialize rights that come close to acts of cold blooded cruelty (Bhan, d- 1991) The world health organization (WHO) defines child abuse and child maltreatment as whole as all forms of physical and/or psychological ill treatment, sexual abuse, neglect or negligent treatment or commercial or other exploitation, resulting actual or potential harm to the child's health, survival, development or dignity in the context of a relation of responsibility, trust or power. Abstract: In Latin America, it can be said that Chile is the most advanced country followed by Argentina then Brazil according to the latest Human Development Index (HDI). In this paper, I would like to address Celso Furtado, who is a Brazilian theorist in ECLAC and his dependency theory. According to Furtado, development is not only depending on historical factors but also it depends on sociological factors. This means that social dimensions are playing a major role together with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). In this case; HDI, which covers life expectancy at birth, expected years of schooling, mean of schooling and the Gross National Income (GNI), is giving more qualitative and quantitative data for these three countries when we are comparing their development in order to define their economies' strength, trade relations, competitiveness and cooperation.............

Abstract: The present study has been undertaken with the current prevailing view, especially among those who are engaged in the major issues of gender discrimination, that much of women‟s work remains unrecognized and unvalued. This has an impact on the status of women in society, their opportunities in public life and the gender blindness of development policy. Women work both for the labour market as well as for the household sector. Some of this work is recognized and remunerated, while most of it is not enumerated and remains unpaid. Women‟s contribution to the household economy and society goes unrecognized since in most of the activities female are involved in, do not enter the sphere of the market and remain non-monetized. Most of the work undertaken by women is often interspersed...........

Abstract: This study set to determine influence of family stability and peer group pressure ecological factors on risk taking behaviour among adolescents in secondary schools in Kajiado North Sub-County, Kajiado County. The area has numerous ecological factors that could influence the behaviour of adolescents. Since the area is home to a lot of the working population of the adjacent Nairobi City County, people from various backgrounds have immigrated there. As such, the values held by the inhabitants of the area are not easy to define. In this context, adolescents are prone to indulge in risky behaviours such as drug abuse, unprotected sex, and gang behaviour among others that could impact their lives negatively. This study adopted the Ecological Systems Theory. The study is also cross-sectional in nature. Data was collected from 267 students and 15 principals sampled using stratified proportionate.........

Abstract: As technology is developing, communication is evolving towards unchartered lands. Words replaced by pictures or videos and the restrictive 160 character social media platform. This progression has taken its toll on our attention span and our language in general. In such a world, finding the relevance of short stories, to not only amuse but also to ameliorate one's attention and many other such conclusive effects are studied by this paper. It focuses on one of the most famous raconteurs of the genre, O.Henry, the language found and the use of various elements of narration, all to better understand how a story shifts the focus away from easy to misinterpret and ambiguous conversations to thought provoking and language augmenting dialogue in quotidian life.
