Title | : | Status of Higher Education for Women in Odisha: an Inter District Analysis |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Sadhana Satapathy |
Abstract: Higher Education (H.E) in general, unlike basic education and health, is not a matter of right. Neither it is of immense importance for the policy makers as there are already too many problems to handle. This is more so in the case of a big and poor country like India. The same logic applies to Odisha where the priorities are in favour of basic needs. However, the role of higher education as nurturing the thinking and opinion making class on behalf of the society cannot be undermined. What about higher education for Women? It is well known that education in general and women‟s education in particular is a reflection of a nation‟s state of development. However, progress in literacy and reduction of high dropout rate may not be accepted as the only solution for further development..............

Title | : | Media And Women Question: The Contradiction Between 'Real' and 'Ideal' Women |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Himashree Patowary |
Abstract: - Women, the half of the global population, having being persuaded of the images created by media, are in turmoil to preserve their womanhood—is now becoming a question of many of the researchers over the globe. Over the years, media, as it is one of the great contributors to upgrading the human civilisation to a greater extent, are obviously contributing its role—to develop humanity, in the construction of ideas regarding rights, duties, democracy, laws and many core ideas of the modern world. But, side by side, the growing awareness among the womenfolk has made them conscious about the images being produced in media contents, be it print or electronic media, to question media as being coping the patriarchal notion on women and womanhood and regenerating the concept of popularity of male gaze.

Title | : | Judgment and Choice: Moral Judgment, Enjoyment and Meaningfulness in Interactive and Non-Interactive Narratives |
Country | : | USA |
Authors | : | Daniel M. Shafer || Sophie Janicke || Jonmichael Seibert |
Abstract: - This study extends Affective Disposition Theory (ADT) and the Integrated Theory of Enjoyment (ITE) to interactive television/film narratives. In the study, 168 participants were randomly assigned to experience one of two originally-produced films; one with interactive components, the other without. Participants in the interactive condition made choices for the protagonist throughout the films. Path analysis was used to examine hypotheses based on the ITE (using the recent perspective of enjoyment and meaningfulness as outcomes). Results indicate that the principles of ADT and ITE can be applied to interactive narrative forms. Suggestions for future research are offered.
